DIRECTOR OF ELEVATED OPPORTUNITIES

Heather Mayer

My biggest passion is working with children and I have spent the last twenty-one years teaching and working with children. I have really enjoyed my new position this year and I love finding ways to engage the students in activities that keep them curious!

In my spare time, I love to go to Radium with my two amazing daughters. We love to enjoy nature and the outdoors and especially enjoy spending time at the lake in the summer.

Uzma Syed

With twenty years of experience in childcare and education, I am deeply passionate about working with children. I aspire to empower all the children within my care to unlock their potential. I believe it’s important to tailor instruction to meet each child’s unique needs and interests. I earned my Child Development Worker staff certification from Bow Valley College and Montessori Diploma from MTC. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, playing with my cat, and exploring nature. I love working at Rundle College and engaging with an amazing team and students.

Maheen Hajirezaie

As a former teacher who relocated to Canada. I knew early in my career I wanted to be in a role that allowed me to educate and be a role model. My passion for working with children only deepened as I discovered the immense joy in guiding young minds and shaping their futures. Now in Canada, I continue to find fulfillment in nurturing the growth and development of children, fueled by my unwavering dedication to education and their well-being. As a hardworking mom with a 13-year-old daughter, my life is full of enjoyments arising from learning and experiencing new things every moment. My hobbies include working out, hiking, running, cooking, housekeeping, and spending time with my family and friends.

Maryam Abdolkarimi

I love working with children and that is why I pursued my master degree in educational planning. I have spent 15 years working at a school in my country and in Canada. My greatest strengths are my management skills in a classroom and building and maintaining a warm and successful classroom environment. I like encouraging children to collaborate and work together. My hobbies are reading, cooking, yoga, hiking, nature, and gardening. I love my family and I enjoy spending time with them.

Parastoo Sanati

Working with children is my passion. Being part of a child’s growth journey and supporting them through various milestones is a fulfilling job for me. I have a degree in Chemical Engineering. After moving to South Korea, I started working in a preschool and teaching English to young children, and I found out that my dream job is working with children. I joined Rundle College in the fall of 2022. I am pursuing my Early Childhood Education Diploma at Bow Valley College to keep myself more educated about this field. I have two children and I love spending time with them.

Jean Alexander

After receiving my Early Childhood Education Diploma from Confederation College in Thunder Bay I moved to Calgary and began working at Louise Dean Center for Teen Mothers.  After raising three teenage sons and operating my own Before and After School Program, I joined Rundle College in the fall of 2021.  I enjoy working with young children, nurturing their creativity and development. I look forward to working with the young students of Rundle College.

Kenzie Dreja

I just graduated from Alberta University of the Arts with a BFA. I enjoy incorporating creativity in everyday life as a way to connect with wellness and inspire positive outlooks. I love working with children because of their light-hearted nature and sense of curiosity. The opportunity to encourage each child’s creative development and their ability to look at things from different perspectives is something I find very rewarding. In my spare time I love being out in nature, playing with my dog or painting.

Nasrin Modarress

Since my childhood, I was always in love with the idea of teaching children one day. After receiving my Bachelor of Science in Physics, I pursued teaching physics for several years. After moving to Calgary, I am really excited to be a part of Rundle College this year and have loved working with my team. Working with children and getting a glimpse into their worlds has brought me a lot of joy and taught me a lot. I’m enjoying my year with my team and the Grade 2 group!

Zack Rose

Since my high school years, I knew I had a passion for working with children and found it easy to relate with their senses of wonder and interests! I have a background in Education, as well as a degree in Sociology, which have both greatly prepared me for a career that I love! At a young age, I became an avid cartoon artist, and reader of many Stephen King novels. Combining my backgrounds, I have been able to create exciting comics and engaging activities for the students of Rundle College!
